Good news sa mga kapwa nating nagigipit sa budget: yes, you can apply for a new Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) even if you still have an existing MPL, calamity loan, or even a housing loan.
Can I Apply for MPL Even With an Existing MPL?
Oo, pwede. Ang tawag dito ay MPL reloan.
As long as qualified ka based on your contributions, you can apply for a new MPL even if your previous MPL isn’t fully paid yet. Pero take note: Pag-IBIG will deduct the remaining balance of your existing MPL from your new loan proceeds.
Example:
- Qualified ka for ₱70,000 this time
Can I Apply for MPL Even With an Existing Calamity Loan?
Yes, puwedeng-puwede. Calamity Loan and MPL are separate loan programs, so having one doesn’t disqualify you from applying for the other.
You can have:
- MPL + Calamity Loan at the same time
- Or apply for an MPL even if you’re still paying off a calamity loan
Note: Your existing Calamity Loan will NOT be offset, but your maximum MPL amount = 80% of TAV − current balance of Calamity Loan
Can I Apply for MPL Even If I Have a Pag-IBIG Housing Loan?
Yes, having a Pag-IBIG Housing Loan doesn’t stop you from applying for an MPL.
Your Housing Loan is treated separately from your MPL and calamity loans. So kahit meron ka nang housing amortization under Pag-IBIG, you’re still eligible to apply for an MPL as long as your membership and contribution requirements are in good standing.
Just keep in mind:
- Having a housing loan might affect your capacity to pay, especially if Pag-IBIG checks your financial obligations.
- But generally, it won’t stop you from filing an MPL.
Is There a Required Number of Payments Before You Can Reapply?
If your existing MPL is still very new and mataas pa ang balance, malaki ang mababawas sa next loan mo.
Many members wait until they’ve paid at least 6 months or more para mas malaki ang net proceeds na makukuha nila sa bagong loan.
In short: puwede kang mag-apply anytime, pero tingnan mo rin kung worth it sa amount na matatanggap mo.
Final Thoughts
It’s a relief na Pag-IBIG doesn’t restrict you from applying for a new MPL even if may mga existing loans ka — whether it’s another MPL, calamity loan, or even a housing loan.
- Worth it ba ang maiiwang amount?
If yes, go ahead and apply. But if you can wait a few months, you might receive a bigger take-home loan later on.
