If you work in Metro Manila and earn minimum wage, malaking balita ito para sa’yo. The National Capital Region just approved its biggest single daily wage increase ever, and it’s rolling out in two parts starting this year.
Here’s everything you need to know about Wage Order No. NCR-27, when it kicks in, and how much extra you’ll actually be taking home.
What is Wage Order No. NCR-27?
On June 30, 2026, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board of the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) signed Wage Order No. NCR-27, granting a P85 daily wage increase for private sector minimum wage earners in Metro Manila. Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino called it the largest single daily wage adjustment ever approved for the region, benefiting more than 1.1 million workers.
Unlike past adjustments that came in one go, this one is split into two tranches so employers have time to adjust their payroll and budgets.
When Does the Wage Hike Take Effect?
This is where you need to pay close attention, since there’s been some back and forth on the exact date.
Secretary Tolentino’s original announcement pegged the first tranche at July 19, 2026. However, the RTWPB-NCR later clarified that the wage order legally takes effect 15 days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation, which places the actual effectivity date at July 25, 2026.
The second tranche is more settled across sources: January 20, 2027.
Note: Since official sources have shown some inconsistency here, double check with your HR department or the DOLE website closer to the date to confirm your exact pay adjustment schedule.
How Much Will Your Daily Wage Increase?
The new rates depend on what kind of establishment you work for.
For non-agriculture sector workers (most office, retail, and service jobs):
- Current daily wage: P695
- After first tranche: P755
- After second tranche (final): P780
For agriculture workers, retail/service establishments with 15 workers or fewer, and manufacturing firms with fewer than 10 workers:
- Current daily wage: P658
- After first tranche: P718
- After second tranche (final): P743
Either way, that’s a full P85 increase once both tranches are in effect.
What This Means for Your Monthly Take-Home Pay
Assuming a standard 26 working days a month, here’s roughly what the increase adds to your paycheck once fully implemented:
- Non-agriculture workers: P85 x 26 days = P2,210 more per month
- Smaller establishments/agriculture: same P85 x 26 days = P2,210 more per month

Is This Wage Hike Only for NCR?
Yes, for now. This wage order only covers workers within Metro Manila. However, DOLE has directed other Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) nationwide to begin reviewing their own wage levels, with assessments expected to start within 60 days before the anniversary of each region’s existing wage order. So kung nasa ibang region ka, may possibility na susunod din kayo, pero walang confirmed timeline pa as of now.
What Should Employees Do?
- Confirm with your HR or employer when the adjustment will reflect in your payslip
- Watch out for the second tranche in January 2027 so you don’t miss it if it’s not automatically applied
- If your pay is close to but above the new minimum, ask about potential wage distortion adjustments, since companies are expected to review pay scales for employees just above the new minimum too
FAQs
Does this wage increase apply to all workers in Metro Manila?
It applies to private sector minimum wage earners in NCR. Government employees follow a separate compensation system (the Salary Standardization Law), not wage orders from the RTWPB.
What if my employer doesn’t implement the increase on time?
Non-compliance with a wage order can result in penalties for employers. If your pay isn’t adjusted, you can raise the concern with DOLE or your company’s HR and compliance team.
Will there be a wage hike outside NCR too?
Not yet confirmed. Other regions’ wage boards are still reviewing their own rates, and any adjustments there will likely follow a separate timeline and process.
How is the P85 increase different from previous wage hikes?
DOLE has described this as the largest single wage adjustment ever granted for private sector workers in NCR, surpassing past incremental increases.
How do I know my exact new take-home pay?
Your exact take-home pay depends on your deductions and tax bracket. Use our Net Salary Calculator to compute it based on the new daily rate.
Blogger’s Corner
So while this is genuinely good news, it’s also a reminder na dapat pa rin nating pag-isipan kung paano mag-budget, mag-ipon, at maghanap ng additional income streams kung kaya.
