Updated: August 2025 – Good news! The Social Security System (SSS) has officially opened its Calamity Loan Program (CLP) for members in areas declared under a state of calamity.
And it gets even better—SSS recently improved its calamity loan guidelines to make it easier, faster, and cheaper for members to borrow during disasters like typhoons, earthquakes, and flooding.
✅ What’s New in the 2025 SSS Calamity Loan Program?
As of July 2025, the SSS has implemented major changes to the CLP:
Feature | Old Program | 2025 Update |
---|---|---|
Interest Rate | 10% per annum | 7% per annum (if good standing) |
Loan Activation | Around 1 month after disaster | Within 7 working days of calamity declaration |
Renewal Option | Not allowed until fully paid | Allowed after 6 months, if no overdue balance |
Loan Term | 24 months | 24 months (no change) |
Max Loanable Amount | Up to ₱20,000 | Up to ₱20,000 (no change) |

These updates are part of the government’s effort to provide faster and more affordable financial aid to SSS members during difficult times.

Blogger’s Corner
SSS finally listened to what many of us have been complaining about for years—slow loan release and high interest rates during calamities. These new rules for 2025 are a step in the right direction. Lowering the interest to 7%, allowing renewals after 6 months, and speeding up loan activation are small changes that make a huge difference when you’re trying to recover from a disaster.
If you’re affected by a recent calamity, don’t delay—apply while the program is active. And remember, these loans are temporary help, not a replacement for an emergency fund. Always try to build one when things are normal.
Hi sir, question po? If may MPL kana po na loan sa pag ibig then mag-aavail ka na po ng calamity loan, i-ooffset niya po ba yung outstanding balance ko sa MPL or hindi po? Thank you!
Dapat masettle muna Calamity Loan before MPL.
Sir konti nalan po ang babayararn ko sa Salary Loan 4K kaso meron po akong pass due maka avail po bako ng Salary Loan at Calamity Loan
