In a previous blog, I gave an introductory post regarding the ALFM Global Multi-Asset Income Fund. This time around, I’ll show you how you can invest in the said fund through the GCash app.
If you haven’t done it already, you need to create a GFunds account first before you can invest in it. Since I created mine a long time ago, I don’t have a specific step-by-step guide I can provide you but you can visit the GCash Help Center instead.
Done creating your GFunds account? Then let’s go to the steps on how you can invest in ALFM Global Multi-Asset Income Fund via the GCash app.
Steps on how to invest in ALFM Global Multi-Asset Income Fund
Step 1: Go to GInvest
From the main GCash app screen, tap on GInvest. Then select GFunds from the list.
Please note that before you proceed, make sure you have an Available Balance in your GCash account since you’ll be using your available balance to pay for the investment.
Step 2: Tap on Buy
Note: If you haven’t invested in any Fund yet, you won’t see a list under My Investments.
Step 3: Tap ALFM Global Multi-Asset Income Fund Inc – PHP
This page actually provides you with a list of all the Funds that you can invest in. So if you wish to go for another Fund, you can select it here.
Step 4: Tap the BUY button
In the future, this section will show you your total investment value for the fund as well.
Step 5: Key in the amount you want to invest
The minimum amount is just 50 pesos but since there’s a maintaining balance of 500, I would suggest investing at least a minimum of 500 for your initial investment with the fund.
Once you’re done putting in the value, tap the Next button.
Step 6: Put a check on the “I agree” box
By the way, this page shows the amount you’re investing in and the corresponding NAVPU of the amount you’re putting in.
NAVPU is the unit price of the fund. Comparing it to the Stock Market, it’s similar to the value of a single stock.
Step 7: Tap on the “I Agree” button
This page shows you the User Agreement which you should read through (but who does it nowadays?).
You will need to wait for the page to fully load before you can tap on the “I Agree” button.
Step 8: Confirm the Payment
This is the final stage before the payment is taken out of your GCash account. So if you wish to change the amount or invest in a different fund, this is your last change to click back.
Congratulations! You have successfully invested in ALFM Global Multi-Asset Income Fund via GCash
And that’s it! Just tap Okay.
It will take up to 4 business days for your purchase to be reflected in your GFunds account. Don’t worry, you’ll get a notification about it. Once the Buy Order has been completed, you should see it in your GFunds account as shown in Step 2.
Kuya Well’s Corner
If I haven’t been clear in my previous posts, the reason why I’m investing in the ALFM Global Multi-Asset Income Fund is because this is the only UITF in GFunds that provides a monthly dividend. I can’t find any information about the current yield but so far, based on my account, the dividend yield is around 5-6% per annum.
The fund value is currently at -1.05% YTD but it’s trailing by -5.86% over the last 52 weeks. This is because the underlying fund BGF Global Multi-Asset Income Fund which ALFM is feeding from has also a negative performance YTD.
Now due to dividends being reinvested, my fund portfolio is at least green so far. I’ll continue to invest 1K pesos monthly in this fund until the end of the year. By next year, I may consider cutting it down by half since I’ve started investing in SSS WISP Plus, so I need to reallocate my limited investment cash flow.
