In the past, paying your Pag-IBIG MP2 contributions using a debit card or via bank cost you 1.75% in fees. Nowadays, more banks make it easier to pay your MP2 contributions with a much lower convenience fee — and GoTyme is one of the best options for this.
Let’s go over how to use GoTyme to pay your MP2 contributions — and what’s changed since we first covered this.
Steps to Pay Pag-IBIG MP2 Contribution via GoTyme
There are two ways to do it via GoTyme.
Option 1: QR Code (Lowest Fee — ₱5)
- Go to the Virtual Pag-IBIG website to process your payment.
- Select GCash/Maya as the payment method. For the full steps, follow this guide.
- On the page where you choose the eWallet to use, select QRPh. This generates a QR code. If you’re on one device, take a screenshot of the code. If you’re using a second device, leave the screen open so you can scan it from there.
- Open your GoTyme app and tap Scan QR. Either upload the screenshot or scan the code shown on the other device to process the payment. Since this uses QRPh, the convenience fee is only ₱5.
Option 2: “Pay Bills” Section of the GoTyme App
- From the GoTyme app’s main screen, tap Pay Bills.
- Tap Government, then Pag-IBIG.
- Input the amount you want to contribute to your MP2 account (minimum ₱500).
- The next screen will ask for:
- Member ID/Reference Number — your MP2 account number (not your MID)
- Payment Type — select Modified Pag-IBIG
- Bill Date and Due Date — select the current month
- Contact Number — your mobile number
- Review your details, then tap Pay Now to complete the transaction. The convenience fee is ₱7.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Payment not reflecting in your MP2 account? Posting can take 1–3 business days. Hold on to your GoTyme receipt or confirmation screenshot in case you need to follow up with Pag-IBIG.
- Double-check your MP2 account number before confirming. This is different from your Pag-IBIG MID number, and a wrong digit can send your contribution to the wrong account — recovery can take weeks.
- QR code not scanning? Make sure the screenshot is clear and not cropped, or try generating a fresh QR code from Virtual Pag-IBIG if the first one has expired.
- App showing an error on “Pay Bills”? Confirm your GoTyme app is updated to the latest version, since biller lists occasionally get refreshed.
Which Option Should You Use?
If you’re comfortable going through Virtual Pag-IBIG first, Option 1 (QR code) saves you ₱2 per transaction versus the direct “Pay Bills” route. If you’d rather skip the extra step and pay straight from the GoTyme app, Option 2 is faster, just slightly pricier.
Either way, GoTyme remains one of the cheaper and more convenient ways to keep your MP2 contributions consistent.
