Stock Trading now available in Maya

It appears that Maya has followed GCash‘s footsteps by incorporating “Stocks” in their app as well.

Though you will be able to register, it will still require approval, so you won’t be able to trade stocks right away.

Who can register?

There are only two requirements to enroll in Maya Stocks:

  • Must have an upgraded Maya account
  • Must be 18 years old or more

Brokers of Maya Stocks

Broker is the “middleman” or the actual trading platform that you’re going to use. There are two brokers listed which are:

  • Philstocks
  • 2TradeAsia

However, only Philstocks is available for registration at the moment.

How to register to Maya Stocks?

Registration via the Maya app is easy. Here’s how:

Step 1: Log in to your Maya app

From the main app interface, tap on Stocks.

Step 2: Select the broker to register with

As mentioned earlier, only 2TradeAsia is not yet really available, so if you want to register now, then select Philstocks.

Once you tap on Philstocks, you will get some reminders from Maya.

Tap on Continue to redirect you to the Philstocks registration page. Don’t worry it’s still within the Maya app. It will not open a different window.

Step 3: Tap on “Open an Account”

Step 4: Go over the Agreement and Disclosures

I know it’s hard to read over the legalities and those forms, but they’re good for you. Once done, check the box “I have read…” and tap Continue.

Step 5: Fill out your details

You will be asked for your personal information (name, gender, civil status, TIN, occupation, nature of work, job position, company name) and your investment profile (objective, source of funds, current value of assets, annual income, net worth).

Just tap Continue when you have filled out all the information required.

Step 6: Wait for email confirmation

After Step 5, you will receive an SMS advising you that your application for Philstocks is PENDING. So you’ll just have to wait for the confirmation via email.

Note: I haven’t received my confirmation email yet since I have just created the account. I’ll update this post to give you an idea of how long it takes to be approved.
