What Is the Pag-IBIG MP2 Savings Program?

The Pag-IBIG MP2 Savings Program is a voluntary savings and investment option offered by Pag-IBIG Fund. It is designed as a 5-year savings scheme that earns tax-free dividends.

Unlike regular Pag-IBIG savings, MP2 is not mandatory, and you can contribute however much you want, starting at ₱500, whenever you want.

Who Can Invest in Pag-IBIG MP2?

You can open an MP2 account if you fall under any of these categories:

• Active Pag-IBIG members
• Former Pag-IBIG members with at least 24 monthly contributions
• Retirees and pensioners who used to be members

Freelancers, self-employed workers, and overseas Filipino workers can also open an MP2 account as long as they have an active Pag-IBIG membership.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pag-IBIG MP2

Below are the most common questions Filipinos ask about the MP2 savings program.

What Is the Minimum Investment in Pag-IBIG MP2?

The minimum contribution for MP2 is ₱500 per deposit.

You can contribute monthly, quarterly, annually, or as a one-time lump sum. There is no required schedule, so you can deposit anytime as long as the amount is at least ₱500.

Is There a Maximum Investment Limit in Pag-IBIG MP2?

Yes. As of 2026, the Pag-IBIG Fund updated MP2 rules to include a maximum total principal savings limit of ₱20,000,000.

This means that the combined total of your MP2 principal savings across all MP2 accounts under your name must not exceed ₱20 million. Any amount over this limit will be refunded.

This cap does not apply per account, but rather to the cumulative principal savings under your MP2 membership.

Can You Open Multiple Pag-IBIG MP2 Accounts?

Yes. Members are allowed to open multiple MP2 accounts under their Pag-IBIG membership.

Many investors use a strategy called MP2 laddering, where they open a new MP2 account every year so that, once the first account matures, one of their accounts can mature each year thereafter.

Example:

Year | MP2 Account
2025 | MP2 Account #1
2026 | MP2 Account #2
2027 | MP2 Account #3

Once the first account matures after 5 years, you can withdraw or reinvest it while the others continue earning dividends.

How Long Is the MP2 Investment Period?

MP2 has a 5-year maturity period that begins on the date of your first deposit into an MP2 account.

Example:

Deposit Year | Maturity Year
2025 | 2030
2026 | 2031

During this period, your money earns dividends every year. You can choose how you want dividends to be paid.

What Is the Current MP2 Dividend Rate?

For the savings accumulated in 2025, Pag-IBIG Fund declared an MP2 dividend rate of 7.12%, which was already credited to member accounts a few days after the announcement.

Dividend rates change every year depending on Pag-IBIG’s annual earnings. They are not guaranteed but have historically been higher than regular bank savings rates.

Can You Invest a Lump Sum in Pag-IBIG MP2?

Yes. MP2 allows one-time lump sum investments.

You can deposit ₱10,000, ₱50,000, ₱100,000, or even ₱1,000,000 or more. Many investors prefer lump sum deposits because the deposited amount earns dividends for the entire year.

You can estimate your potential returns using the Pag-IBIG MP2 calculator:

Can You Add Money to Your Pag-IBIG MP2 Account Anytime?

Yes. You can add money to your MP2 account anytime as long as each deposit is at least ₱500.

There is no required contribution schedule, so you can deposit monthly, quarterly, annually, or only once.

What Happens If You Stop Contributing to MP2?

Nothing happens if you stop making contributions. MP2 is voluntary, and there is no penalty for not contributing regularly. As long as your money remains in the account, it will continue to earn dividends until the 5-year maturity period ends.

Can You Withdraw MP2 Before the 5-Year Maturity?

Yes, you can withdraw your MP2 savings before the standard 5-year maturity, but the amount of dividends you receive depends on the reason for withdrawal. Early withdrawal is allowed, but Pag-IBIG applies penalties if it is not for valid reasons.

Valid Reasons for Early Withdrawal
You may pre-terminate and withdraw your MP2 savings without penalty if your situation falls under any of the following:

  • Total disability or insanity
  • Separation from service due to health reasons
  • Death of the member or any immediate family member
  • Retirement
  • Permanent departure from the Philippines
  • Distressed member due to unemployment, limited to layoff and/or company closure
  • Critical illness of the member or an immediate family member, certified by a licensed physician under one of the following categories (subject to approval by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Member Services Cluster):
    • Cancer
    • Organ failure
    • Heart-related illness
    • Stroke
    • Neuromuscular-related illness
  • Repatriation of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) member from the host country
  • Other meritorious grounds approved by the Pag-IBIG Board

Note: Circumstances under separation for health, retirement, unemployment, and OFW repatriation are exclusively applicable to Pag-IBIG I members.

Voluntary Withdrawal Without a Valid Reason
If you pre-terminate your MP2 membership for reasons other than the valid ones listed above, the following rules apply:

  1. You are entitled to only 50% of the total dividends earned as a pre-termination penalty.
  2. If you opted for the annual dividend payout and have already received dividends before pre-terminating, 50% of the total dividends already earned will be deducted from your principal MP2 savings.
  3. Dividends earned for the current year are also subject to a 50% pre-termination fee and will be given via a second release.

This ensures that members who withdraw early without a valid reason receive reduced dividends while their principal remains secure.

What Are the MP2 Dividend Payout Options?

When you open an MP2 account, you can choose between two dividend payout options:

Annual Dividend Payout
Dividends are paid to you every year.

5-Year Compounded Dividends
Dividends stay in the account and compound until maturity.

The payout option you choose will apply for the full 5-year investment term.

What happens at maturity? Can I roll over my MP2 savings?

When your MP2 savings reach the standard 5-year maturity, you have the option to roll over your principal and returns for an additional five-year cycle. Here’s how it works:

1. Notification
All MP2 members will be notified of their account’s upcoming maturity.

2. Opting for Rollover

  • At enrollment or prior to maturity, you may choose a one-time rollover of your MP2 principal and any corresponding returns.
  • The rollover applies for one additional 5-year MP2 cycle under the same dividend payout option you originally selected (annual or compounded).
  • Conditions:
    • You must provide prior consent at enrollment or within 6 months before maturity.
    • Your total MP2 principal cannot exceed ₱20,000,000. Any excess will be refunded.

3. Not Opting for Rollover

  • If you do not choose to roll over, your matured MP2 account will be closed and reclassified as Accounts Payable, and the funds will be released to you.
  • Once reclassified, your account will no longer earn MP2 returns.

4. Reminder from Pag-IBIG

If you did not opt for rollover: your matured account will be closed and released to you as Accounts Payable.

Before maturity, the Fund will issue a reminder of your options:

If you opted for rollover: your MP2 savings will roll over for one additional cycle.

What Happens When Your Pag-IBIG MP2 Account Matures?

After the 5-year term ends, you can:

• Withdraw your principal and dividends
• Transfer the funds to your bank account
• Reinvest into another MP2 account

Many investors choose to reinvest to continue earning dividends.

What Happens If You Forget to Claim MP2 After Maturity?

If you do not withdraw your MP2 savings after maturity, the funds will remain with Pag-IBIG. Your account will stop earning MP2 dividends after maturity, so it is usually better to withdraw or roll over your funds into a new MP2 cycle.

  1. I’ve been an active member of MP2 for a while already, di ko lng matandaan if I chose annual or 5 year dividend payout, paano ko ba ito malalaman?

    • Check mo yung pdf kung nasave mo sya. Dun mo lang makikita. Kung wala ka copy, you need to contact Pag-IBIG directly kasi di yan makikita sa Virtual Pag-IBIG website at all.

    • If you’re an active Pag-IBIG member, you can create an MP2 account. Just follow the steps shown in the article for online creation. You can also visit a Pag-IBIG branch if you don’t want to do it online.

    • There’s no backtracking of payments. MP2 is voluntary, so you are not required to contribute every month. So if you contribute now, it will be a contribution for November.

  2. Kung hindi ako nakapaglagay ng amount for one year (2025) pero may balance naman since let’s say 2024, bakit walang pumasok na dividend sa taong 2025?
Walang nakalagay sa record sa Virtual Pag-ibig noong nag-check ako.

    • For 2025 dividends, idedeclare palang yan this February or March. Then, it may take a few days to weeks/months for the actual crediting of the amount (last year it only took a few days para macredit pero previous years, it takes weeks to months). Lalabas sya under December 2025 na history once credited.

  3. how to create second MP2 account? can it be still under the same Pagibig account ? or should it be another pagibig account? How can I have another mp2 pagibig account ?

    • It’s the same way you created your first MP2 account. And you can’t have a 2nd Pag-IBIG account. So all MP2 accounts will be under a single Pag-IBIG account.
